Myanmar Last War
Kachin State, in northern Myanmar, in one of the few remaining states not yet controlled by Burme’s government. In fact, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) is the last major rebel group in the country that has not signed a ceasefire agreement with the government. The government of Myanmar has banned UN agencies, international NGOs, and even foreigners from entering into KIA territory, leaving the people of Kachin with little access to the outside world.
Still today, the conflict is very much active in Kachin state and has a major role in its citizens’s lives. Machine guns and grenade launchers are present in every corner, and training centers outside no truce, because the government army continues snatching KIA positions and leaving a trail of dead in their advance.
